Bridging Cultures: Introducing the Tashkent Korean Culture Awareness Project

As globalization continues to reshape the modern world, the value of international cooperation and cultural exchange has never been more evident. In this spirit, we are proud to introduce the Tashkent Korean Culture Awareness Project — a new initiative designed to strengthen the friendship between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea through deeper cultural understanding and people-to-people exchange.

This blog will serve as your window into a series of exciting activities, stories, and reflections that spotlight the rich tapestry of Korean culture as it unfolds in the heart of Tashkent. From language workshops and traditional performances to youth exchanges and community outreach, this project is more than a campaign — it is a bridge between nations, built on mutual respect and shared aspirations.

Why Tashkent?

Tashkent, the vibrant capital of Uzbekistan, is a historical crossroads of civilizations. With its dynamic youth population and growing interest in global cultures, it is the perfect location to begin a journey of intercultural connection. Korean culture, from K-pop and K-drama to Hanbok and Kimchi, has captured global attention — and Tashkent is no exception. Yet beyond pop culture, lies a deeper story of values, resilience, and artistic heritage that we are eager to share.

It is known that most people in Tashkent have watched a couple of legendary K-drama series called "Jumong: Prince of the Legend" and "Dae Jang Geum : Jewel in the Palace"

Project Goals

The primary objective of the Tashkent Korean Culture Awareness Project is to foster greater appreciation and understanding of Korean culture among young people and local communities in Uzbekistan. The project aims to promote meaningful cultural dialogue between Korean and Uzbek participants and :

  • Support educational efforts, such as Korean language classes and cultural lectures.

  • Create opportunities for collaboration through joint art, music, and media projects.

  • Highlight common values and historical ties between our two nations.

What to Expect

Over the coming months, until the this blog will feature:

  • Event Highlights: Coverage of Korean film nights, calligraphy sessions, food tasting events, and more.

  • Youth Voices: Articles and interviews from local students participating in the program.

  • Cultural Insights: Deep dives into Korean traditions, etiquette, holidays, and the modern Korean lifestyle.

  • Behind the Scenes: Stories from organizers, volunteers, and cultural ambassadors who make this initiative possible.

We believe that cultural exchange is not a one-way street. As much as we introduce Korea to Uzbekistan, we hope to learn from Uzbek culture, hospitality, and history in return. Through mutual learning, both nations grow stronger.
